About The Little Theatre Club
Founded in 1947, The Little Theatre Club is the oldest theatre on the Kenyan Coast and the only one of its kind in the region — an active and vibrant Community Art Centre and Artists' hub in Mombasa.
Our object, unchanged since our founding, is "the promotion and encouragement of Culture and Entertainment with special reference to Drama and the Arts."
The Club stages productions throughout the year, runs a Theatre School for young performers, and hires out its auditorium, rehearsal rooms and grounds to members and the wider community.
Membership
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in theatre and the arts. Categories range from Full and Up-Country membership (for residents inside or outside Mombasa County) to Student, Junior, and Theatre Temporary membership for those wishing to help on a specific production without joining full-time.
New members are proposed and seconded by existing Full Members, exhibited on the Club notice board for three months, and then balloted by the Membership Committee — a tradition that goes back to the Club's founding rules.
